September babies, your birthstone is Sapphire! When thinking of Sapphire, you might think of a violet-blue gemstone, but there’s so many interesting facts that you might not know! Here’s the lowdown on the stunning gemstone!
Sapphire is one of the Most Popular Engagement Gemstones
Referred to as the Ultimate Blue Gemstone, it represents a promise of honesty, loyalty, purity and trust. It has done since Ancient Times and is still one of the most popular engagement gemstones today keeping up with traditions.
It’s found in many parts of the world
Sapphire is found all over the world but there are only three places in which it is most sought from. Myanmar (Burma), Kashmir and Sri Lanka.
Some can be rare
The greater the price of the Sapphire the purer the blue is in the gemstone! Although, darker hues are also very sought after. A highly saturated violet-blue colour and a “velvety” or “sleepy” transparency are rarer!
They aren’t just blue!
They can, in fact, come in almost every colour of the rainbow: pink, yellow, orange, peach and violet colours. The most sought-after colour is Padparascha, a pink-orange distinctive salmon colour. They are ultra-rare and are among the most coveted gems in the world.
