The traditional path to owning a piece of jewellery was to commission a smith to make it for you. At the Goldsmithy we pride ourselves in keeping the traditional methods and values of jewellery making alive.

When considering how your piece will look we often say. “Don’t think about jewellery, what do you like, what inspires you.”
Whether it be a passion, memory or particular interest, by designing your own piece you make sure it is truly personal and unique while understanding the possibilities within the parameters of the materials chosen and your budget.
Feel free to look through our gallery of previously made piece for some inspiration.
A piece of jewellery goes through several stages before it becomes the beautiful thing catching people’s eye.
Goldsmiths are known as ultralight engineers and by coming to see your piece being made you will understand why. By realising precious metals are re-usable materials that can be melted down your eyes can be opened to the world of possibilities.
With professional training and no end of specific tools we make every part of your piece by hand often working to .1 of a millimetre.
The advantage of you seeing your piece of jewellery being made lets you discuss any changes as well as making sure you are completely happy before we start the final stage of polishing it up to a high sheen . The surface of the metal is filed, emeryed before it goes through the 2 grades of polishing which shows off the true beautiful reflective finish that takes your breath away.
We made a bespoke fairy from gold and documented each stage from our workshop. Check out the short video below or visit our ‘In the Making‘ to see more pieces be made step-by-step.
